New York, New York
An outpost of the popular Spice chain in New York, this SoHo location was designed with Phil Wu. The restaurant is a subtle statement piece; bright color and a generous dose of gold dominate the space along with a recurring Buddha pattern on the walls. The lighting provides a restrained glow, allowing the two floors of dining and drinking to focus on the experience inside, closing off the outer world.
The restaurant/building owner renovated and added on to the entire building at the same time, adding 2 floors of contemporary office space above the existing historic building. Recognized by the New York AIA, it is a successful meld of old and new.
